Updated version of the mock up of my film magazine created on PowerPoint in preparation for creating the real one on Photoshop. The grey rectangle in the middle of the cover is where my photograph is going to be placed with its edges fading to black.

I now believe my magazine cover should be a horror special in honour of my horror film being promoted on it. This is primarily so that I can use black, grey and red colours on the cover.

This is an updated version of my magazine mock up I'm creating on Powerpoint in preparation for creating my real magazine cover on Photoshop.

I know it doesn't look very good at the moment, however the black and grey background is representative of the photograph that will be on the cover with the edges faded to black. The exact colours I am going to use have yet to be decided also.

Research and Planning - Sharing Equipment

So, this blog post has nothing to do with cute furry animals, however it does have everything to do with sharing - which the most adorable little furry things pictured above are doing with a piece of what I believe to be carrot, or cheese !

Anyway, as College only has a certain amount of equipment for its media students to use, I am having to share my equipment with my previous media partner Danny, as when I asked for equipment there was only one camcorder, one SLR camera and one tripod left and after hearing me ask for equipment Danny realised he'd need some too, so I offered to share the equipment with him. However, after my 3 failed attempts at filming on Saturdays (see previous blog posts) Danny now wants to use the equipment, meaning I haven't been able to film anything yet and once he has the equipment I won't be able to film anything until he's finished, which is really stressing me out!

Research and Planning - Actor Unavailable

The angry face above is incredibly suitable, as I am now beginning to believe I definitely am cursed when it comes to this media project.

My main actress, Sara, is not back from a holiday she forgot to tell me about until Monday 7th January, meaning she is unavailable for the filming that was supposed to be happened on Saturday 5th January. However she and I are back at College (different Colleges) as of that Monday, meaning we can only film on weekends. So the next time I am able to film her will be Saturday 12th January, which is a date far beyond when I expected to be completely finished filming.

I'm debating whether or not to use a different lead actress just to get filming done because I'm not happy having to complete everything at the last minute (or what I feel like is the last minute) and I feel like I have had such bad luck regarding the weather over the past few Saturdays.

This is some feedback I have gained from posting my mock up masthead and tagline on Facebook. This feedback will help greatly when constructing my real masthead and tagline on Photoshop.

Research and Planning - Magazine Mock Up

I have started to mock up my Magazine cover in preparation for creating my final magazine cover on Photoshop.

So far I have constructed the masthead on PowerPoint. It has taken over an hour to create (despite not looking very impressive) as the version of PowerPoint on my laptop is rather old and requires much more effort to create word art and position things correctly on the page (also, it freezes every 5 minutes!) The film strip behind the masthead font was taken from Google images, however I manipulated the size and angle of the image and will be making my own from scratch when it comes to the real magazine which will be made on Photoshop.
